If all the crop land in the US were switched to grow corn, all of that corn would only produce 12% of the US energy needs. Not to mention it is inefficient to make and would use too much fertilizer thus polluting the waterways. Then what about food shortages? We're already seeing that happen. And finally ethanol is not good as a fuel. Cars get worse gas mileage, thus use more, when burning ethanol. An entirely different type of energy needs to be used for vehicles. We need to go after electric(which in the US is mainly produced using coal, natural gas, water and nuclear) or some form of hydrogen cell. But wake up and forget ethanol folks!
