The American Society for Testing and Materials recently approved the national biodiesel blend standards. The standards include the specifications required from biodiesel and biodiesel products to make them more consumer and vehicle-friendly.

Biodiesel is a type of renewable fuel that is a good alternative to imported fuel. What’s more, it is more environment-friendly, which will benefit the whole humankind in the long run.

The new standards attempt to make biodiesel products better for the driving public. With the standards out, it becomes easier to monitor and control both home-made and commercially produced biodiesel fuels being sold in the market today.

The American Society for Testing and Materials also aims to implement the standards and serve as a watchdog for the industry. They want uniform specifications across all biodiesel retailers in the country. The end result of this move is better biodiesel quality in the long run, as retailers and manufacturers strive to make their product better than the rest of their competitors.

The standardization is good news to all biodiesel consumers although this can be received as a minor set back for some manufacturers. But even so, they are expected to bounce back and reclaim their position in the market.

The shift to alternative fuel is indeed in the works across the globe. In the U.S. alone, a lot of companies had signed deals with foreign and local investors to promote, produce, and distribute alternative fuel all over the nation. The recent deal was that of Alternative Fuel Technologies Inc and The Korean Institute for Energy. The deal was for the shipment of feed pumps to be used at biodiesel refueling stations.

In Texas, Pegasi Energy Resources Corporation had announced their purchase of 10% net working interest from TR Energy. This indicates that they are investing a good amount of money in the booming biodiesel-based industry.

Several oil wells were also acquired in Oklahoma, courtesy of Platina Energy Group Incorporated. With oil reserves newly discovered, the supply for natural gas is increasing. And this translates to better options for car users. Drilling were further initiated to find more oil reserves throughout the country, as Rowan Companies signed a two-year contract to explore the Gulf of Mexico.

With all these developments in the biodiesel industry, the future gets brighter. The next generation of car users would slowly be free from the control of large oil companies importing foreign oil products.

The US army is now being shipped with hybrid electric vehicles for their deployment operations. These new vehicles, which are designed and developed by Quantum Fuel Systems, are now on location all over the country for the US army to use and test.

The vehicles are going to use alternative fuel, instead of the regular imported gasoline. What they have are hydrogen-powered trucks that are expected to be more efficient and produce less emission. The US army also serves as a testing ground for this technology, which will soon become a standard in vehicle creation.

The hydrogen technology in cars will be highly commercialized in the years to come and the government is currently studying it to further set the standards. The newly shipped hybrid army vehicles are being evaluated under HAZOP. Their performance in terms of operability and hazards are tested. Their performance in weather conditions, terrain, and normal conditions are also being looked upon.

The first few shipments are using Ford Escape as the platform vehicle, integrated with Quantum’s hydrogen system. These are trucks are equipped with fuel injectors, fuel management system, pressure checker, and a hydrogen storage system, among others. Now that the army is using alternative fuel in its vehicles, it only shows that the government is serious with this endeavor.

In response to the oil price hike, the East Java administration jump started the promotion of an energy-saving device called Water-4-Gas. The government is sold into the fact that this device can reduce the gas consumption of a regular car to as much as 70%.

The provincial government in East Java believes that it is high time that the device be made available in Indonesia, as it was already being utilized worldwide. The device is so simple to use and is relatively easy to install, so it can be used almost instantly by all car owners.

All a user has to do is to fill up the plastic container of the device with a liter of water and four tablespoons of baking soda. The device would then start its task of processing the water and then turn it into HHO gas. When combined with gasoline, HHO gas could economize fuel consumption. The result is better mileage, higher efficiency ratio, and more money saved on gasoline.

But more than that, the cars that uses the HHO gas technology would become more environment friendly. There would be lesser emissions and consequently, cleaner air can be achieved on the streets – even on the busiest highways.

By 2012, the United States would be the leading biodiesel market. The nation’s move to use biodiesel instead of imported gasoline has jumpstarted. In a few more years, it was projected that their market consumption would increase greatly. The U.S. will be then ranked first in biodiesel consumption, followed closely by France and Germany.

Other countries that would soon be major biodiesel consumers are India and China, which both belong in the Asian region. The governments of these two countries have also created their own set of rules to promote biodiesel instead of the use of foreign oil. However, basing on current studies, the success of biodiesel production would primarily lie on political support, incentives, and industrial competency.

The demand for biodiesel would increase if and only if the national regulation on a certain country calls for it. Most countries are merely looking at biodiesel working on a certain share on the fuel economy. For these countries, biodiesel consumption may not be as strong as it should be. Total independence from foreign oil should be the end goal of the government. Only then could biodiesel become the primary source of fuel for the driving public.

In Portland, students have committed themselves to living green and creating a healthier environment through their chosen careers. Such students, more particularly those who belong to the automotive-related courses, are putting their focus on making green cars for the future. In line with this, they have hosted an event called the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day.

At the event, students are introduced to hybrid cars, electric cars, and cars that are primarily powered by natural gas or biodiesel. Part of the symposium is to educate students how to install the electric configurations of green cars, as well as the proper way of running natural gas stations.

The goal of the symposium is to make sure that the newer generation would be more exposed to the possibilities of using alternative fuel for cars instead of depending entirely on imported oil. The goal is to make the streets cleaner and greener in 20 years. Hydropower and windmills are not part of the past. They can still be use today to make this world a better place to live in.

The Oregon leg of the Alternative Fuels Day is actually a part of a national project where in 90 more cities in the United States will be exposed to these concepts.

America is getting greener by the second. The biodiesel craze seems to be infecting every single city, as it seem. Just recently, Carson Valley is added to the list of cities where a biodiesel refueling station has just opened for business.

But more than just accommodating customers with biodiesel cars, the station is also giving them some special treatment. If you’ve got a biodiesel car, then you are given a special parking space in their lot. Cool, isn’t it?

Bently Biofuel Outpost, the company that recently opened up to offer biodiesel in Carson Valley, is also offering ethanol to the driving public. So far, they are getting the response they expect. And with the projected rise in the biodiesel vehicles in the next few years, the company is positive that the business would pick up soon enough.

More and more people are trying the biodiesel advantage. People want to know what’s hype and what’s not when it comes to biodiesel. Words have it that biodiesel burns cleaner and is more efficient. Now with an outlet in their city, it’s time to put the product to test.

The station also allows for a mix in the ethanol and biodiesel so any vehicle can technically fill up at the station. They are also accepting cash and credit cards. There are also attendants whom customers can ask if they’re a little too concerned about biodiesel and how it works for their cars.

Jatropha is one plant discovered to contain oils that can create biodiesel when processed. Known as the Voodoo plant, high priests and priestess from long ago use these plants to heal diseases, especially the ones that affect the digestive system. Also, this plant is known to have the power to release the souls of the dead and cleanse evil spirits.

Jatropha is not an edible plant. It produces a rather poisonous sap and has a small, rounded fruit as big as a cherry. It is very abundant in Haiti and the entire Caribbean region. The seeds of Jatropha can produce oil, which can serve as the raw ingredient for biodiesel.

Right now, the U.S. and the rest of the nations interested in using alternative fuel are studying the characteristics of this plant in order to cultivate them in their own soils. Just recently, the U.S. has partnered with Brazil to help countries that enjoy the abundance of the Jatropha plant to process them into biodiesel. Such countries are Haiti, El Salvador, St. Kitts and Nevis, and the Domican Republic. Once these countries became strong producers of biodiesel, it won’t be long for them to become independent of importing gasoline themselves.

If you want to have your car converted into a hybrid that can run both on regular gas and alternative fuel, kits are now widely available for only $300. The main idea is to put an HHO gas device under the hood of your car so it can process both gas and water to increase its mileage.

HHO gas is very popular these days and a lot of manufacturers have invested so much in making kits available to everyone. Everybody wants their regular cars to be more fuel efficient and save on gas money and that’s a fact. It’s a good thing that these HHO gas devices had hit the lowest price in the market, which is at $300.

Before, ebooks were released to instruct car hobbyists and car mechanics how to make and install an HHO gas device under the hood of their car by themselves. But as time went on, the need to make kits or actually install the device for people who knew nothing about cars are rising. Soon, many companies are providing the HHO gas conversion setup services to the rest of the car users from all over.

With HHO gas getting more and more popular these days, it won’t be too soon to have imported gas prices go down considerably. With imported gasoline’s decreasing demand in the world market, there’s no reason why it has to be sold at a very high price.

The trend in commercial cars today is not to increase speed or power, or to make cars more flashy and head-turning. Car manufacturers are looking to make cars that primarily work on alternative fuel. Biodiesel is very popular in the market today – so do other fuel cell technologies for cars, hybrids, and electric cars. Now, the next best alternative fuel is said to be natural gas.

Compressed natural gas is seen to enjoy the same popularity and rave reviews as biodiesel and ethanol. The rise of natural gas in the market is all about achieving commercial practicality and environment friendliness. However, the production of cars running on compressed natural gas is not really the issue – the actual problem is whether there will be gas stations that can provide CNG or compressed natural gas to such vehicles.

Right now, there are only 1,600 refueling stations that sell CNG. That’s not even close to 1% of the total number of imported gasoline stations, which is at 200,000 to date. As far as the number of CNG powered cars today, there are about 130,000 all over the world, although they are mostly concentrated in the U.S. And a lot of these cars are commercial vehicles transformed into CNG powered cars.
